10/11: Neutral Language
Hi Students!
The focus of today's class will be to differentiate between what subjective and objective language is in writing. To do so, please read the news article Obama eyes US voters in Arab Spring defense by Dave Clark. Try to identify words and/or phrases in which you think biased language is used.
We'll cover a PowerPoint Presentation on Neutral Language and we will also look at some examples in this Subjectivity in Biography document.
Lastly, we will dedicate some time to conduct peer reviews of Summary #2. Please work with the same person as last time.
Reminder: As mentioned early on, this Unit will demand much of your time. I will discuss the guidelines for Reflective Assignment #2 and will also provide you with printed copies of article #3 for you to summarize for next class.
